About Mrs. Henderson
I am a 39 year old native of North Augusta, SC. I married the love of my life 12 years ago this past June, though we have been together for more than 20 years total. My husband, Will Henderson, grew up in Ninety- Six, SC where his family owns and operates a farm. We met at a church youth group in 1998 after my mom was transferred with her job to Greenwood, SC.
We have two beautiful, and very energetic boys, Kale age 10, and Landon age 6. We are all huge Clemson Tiger fans and enjoy going to the football games every fall. We love spending time with family and going to the beach, but our favorite thing to do is visit the farm. We are there most weekends and we love fishing, hunting, riding the 4-wheeler, and enjoying country life.
I graduated high school in 1998 from Francis Hugh Wardlaw Academy, a private school in Johnston, S.C. From there I attended Piedmont Technical College where I studied graphic arts and obtained my Associates in Art degree. In 2000 I transferred to Clemson University and changed my major to Early Childhood Education. While at Clemson, I was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, and my husband was a member of the Farm House Fraternity. We were involved in many events through our sorority and fraternity, some of which involved Habitat for Humanity, raising money and awareness for Domestic Violence, participating in Homecoming, and much more. I finished my last 2 years as a Resident Assistant and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in December 2003
After college, I began my career as a long-term substitute for 1st grade at Aiken County School, Hammond Hill Elementary. The following school year, I was hired on as a full-time 1st grade teacher. I remained in that position for 7 years, during which, I obtained my Masters of Education from Southern Wesleyan University.
My husband earned his Biosystems Engineering Degree in 2003 and Masters in Agriculture in 2005, both from Clemson University, where he began working for Clemson Research Center. My husband and I both attended church regularly as children and were baptized at a young age. A few months prior to getting married, we rededicated our lives and were baptized together at National Hills Baptist Church in Augusta where we were married. We have both been members of True North Church in North Augusta for 10 years, where we currently lead a church home group.
In 2011, I hung up my teaching hat to faithfully follow God’s plan for our family, which was to stay home and raise our son. Shortly after that decision, 1 son turned into 2 sons. It wasn’t until a year later we began to understand God’s plan, as our second son, Landon, was born with a lot of medical issues. Being at home was exactly where I needed to be to focus on him. While caring for Landon, my husband and I decided it would be best to homeschool our oldest son Kale.
Today my husband works for Bayer Crop Science and Landon is in a good place medically. After much prayer and thanksgiving, we have decided that I would go back to work and our boys would attend private school. I am very excited to join the Mead Hall family where I can share my love of the Lord with my students and where my boys can gain the same from their teachers, along with a well-rounded education.
I look forward to growing and learning with all of you this year.
